Final Weekend: Butterflies & Blooms
This weekend is the final chance to
get eye to eye with a butterfly at our widely popular special exhibit, Butterflies & Blooms. The exhibit's last day is Sunday, January 7. Catch these butterfly beauties before they fly away!
2017 has been a whirlwind of a
year. The Conservatory has turned over a multitude of new leaves and
under each one we discover a world of veins, patterns, colors and
sustenance for the future growth of our beloved Conservatory.

We will be closed to the public
for maintenance beginning Saturday, January 20 through Monday, January
29. We will return to regular hours on Tuesday, January 30. Please keep
this in mind when planning a visit to the Conservatory in

Sarcochilus orchids are found
widespread through Southeast Asia and Australia. The attractive orchids
are mostly small epiphytes, although a couple larger species grow
directly on rocks, boulders, and cliff faces. The long-lasting flowers
are often fragrant and grow in colorful clusters of white and yellow,
often with red speckling.
The generic name is derived from the Greek root for flesh, sacros , and lip, cheilos , and is a reference to the
fleshy lip of the flower. Many species in this genus are endangered or
vulnerable due to habitat destruction.
Golden Gate Park closes many of its roads to all vehicle traffic.

The Conservatory is free to all visitors on the first Tuesday of every month.
Conservatory of Flowers is wheelchair accessible for bothmotorized and
