The Conservatory offers Bay Area students free guided tours for 3rd-5th grade classes and free self-guided visits for TK-12th grade school groups, preschools, and college classes.
GUIDED VIRTUAL VISITS
Adaptation Virtual Programs: 3rd– 5th Grade
The Conservatory of Flowers’ popular Adaptation field trip programs will be offered online as virtual programs due to Covid-19.
This virtual program introduces 3rd – 5th grade students to the unique adaptation strategies plants develop to survive in tropical environments. The program is 45 to 60 minutes long, and encourages students to observe, explore, and ask questions. The program is presented live from the Conservatory of Flowers. This program is offered in two formats. See below to see which best suits you or your class.

3rd – 5th grade classes and their teachers connect to Conservatory educators via a Zoom video conference for a live program. Students can join remotely if needed.
- Group size is 40 students. Teachers will be mailed supporting learning material.

Open to San Francisco Unified School District, 3rd – 5th grade classes. All other students and schools, please join us for the Livestream programs offered on Wednesdays (see below).

Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. | September 9 – October 7, 2020. More fall 2020 dates may be added in the 3rd week of September.
All are welcome, program content is aimed at 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Attendees will connect via a Zoom Webinar, which allows attendees to see the presenters but not each other.
- Students, teachers, and participants of all ages are welcome to tune in from any location worldwide. Participants will be emailed supporting learning material.

Due to Covid-19 health concerns, scheduling of group visits to the Conservatory are on hold.
Educational materials for self-guided visits are available for all ages during the school year and over the summer.
Explore the rainforest with the Tropical Trekkers! This booklet is filled with activities, coloring pages, and fun facts to engage young visitors in the wonders of tropical plants. The booklet is available to all elementary-aged children visiting on a field trip or with their family.
SCHEDULE A SELF-GUIDED VISIT
All school groups can make a reservation for a self-guided visit Tuesday through Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the school year, and starting at 10:00 a.m. during the summer. Groups cannot visit on free day, which is the first Tuesday of every month.
To reserve a self-guided field trip for your class, please contact our Visitor Engagement team at groups(at)sfcof.org with the following information:
- group name
- contact name and phone number
- date and time of visit
- number of students and chaperones in group
- grade of students
