Take a close look, if you dare, of the creepy crawly critters that live in tropical climates. In this Halloween edition, join Audra Barrios of Things that Creep as she introduces you to herpetology, the branch of zoology dealing with reptiles and amphibians.
During this class, you will meet three unique species of geckos, including the New Caledonian Giant Gecko, the largest gecko in the world! This event is recommended for children, but suitable for all ages.
Class also includes a virtual tour and scavenger hunt. For an additional cost, bring the Conservatory into your home with our new at-home kits. Conservatory @ Home: Tenacious Tillandsia includes your very own Air Plant, hands-on activities, a hand lens, and a Conservatory pin.
Audra Barrios is the founder and Executive Director of Things that Creep. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from UC Santa Cruz and has worked as a biologist and educator in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 12 years. Through her travels to Madagascar and Mexico, she saw a need for a conservation organization focused on underrepresented critters such as reptiles and amphibians. She started Things that Creep to bring these animals out into the world to create empathy and understanding for why they are important.
